John Bugg I am a 4th generation showman born 1956 wellingborough, my great grand parents played
the music to the cinamatagraph, the first moving pictures.
I travelled as a chid learning the ropes, and at 18 years old I decided to go it alone in the fun fair business.
This was not an easy task , I started work with a side stall with a throwing game - a knocking the cans off the shelf, my progression was slow to start, but I have always been determined to move on, my first riding device was known as the Rib Tickler, and 1 year later I went alone to the USA and imported the Rock o plane ride, this was only the second of its type in the UK at that time. After just 2 seasons, the ride was sold to Ireland. I took delivery of the Super Bob, and many new type rides have followed, I have presented my rides in Europe in fact worldwide, it has been my intention to present good well kept and well presented equipment.
Some of the countries I have worked in are Jersey, Gernsey, Eire, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Dubai, Singaore and Malaysia within our industrey I suppose I have been one of the global pioneers within our industry.My wife and I bought the shares of the long running company John Thurston and son Ltd from the late Charles W Thurston, this well established company have been providing funfairs for over 100 years , the late John Thurston was born in a showman's caravan on the fair ground at the kettering feast fair, we hope that we are following in their footsteps.
In 2008 we took delivery of the worlds first portable ice skating rink built by the company Adesko. We have our own Alpine lodges, and golden horse carousel, so we can create our own winter wonderland.
